The L441 is a linear-array transducer used for superficial work — vascular, small parts, and musculoskeletal imaging — on Hitachi Aloka platforms. Linear probes live a hard life at the patient bedside: the lens face wears from repeated disinfection, and the cable takes constant flexing at the handle. That is why the L441 appears so often on repair benches even though the underlying array is frequently still healthy.

Always quote your console model when you inquire. Hitachi Aloka connector formats changed across generations, and a probe that fits mechanically can still be rejected by system software if the ID handshake does not match.

Each transducer is tested element by element: every channel in the array is measured individually for sensitivity, capacitance, and dead or weak elements. You receive the test report with the probe, so your biomedical team can file it as objective acceptance evidence rather than relying on a visual check at the console.

The report also matters at the other end of the probe’s life. If image quality degrades later, a follow-up element scan tells you whether the array itself has failed or whether the fault sits in the cable or connector, which is the difference between a repair quote and a replacement quote.
