Transducers compatible with the Acuson NX2 Elite
The NX2 Elite is a 64-channel general-imaging system, and Siemens equipped the NX family with a compact set of transducers covering abdominal, OB/GYN, vascular, small parts, and cardiac work. The models we are most often asked to supply for NX2 Elite installations are listed below. Not every configuration of the NX2 Elite ships with every connector option enabled, and software licensing on the console can restrict which probes the system recognizes. If your system was purchased for a single application — OB/GYN only, for example — confirm with us or with your Siemens service record that the target probe is enabled before you buy.
What “compatible” should mean before you pay for one
A compatible transducer is only worth the discount if it has been verified electronically, not just visually. At minimum, ask the supplier for:
- Element-by-element testing. Each piezoelectric element in the array should be individually tested for sensitivity and capacitance, with a report showing dead or weak elements (there should be none).
- Electrical leakage testing to IEC 60601 limits — non-negotiable for any probe used on patients, and doubly so for the EC9-4w endocavity probe.
- A live-scan check on an NX-series console, since a probe can pass bench tests and still throw a connector or ID-chip fault on the actual system.

If the OEM transducer is discontinued
The NX2 Elite launched in 2016 and remains serviceable, but Siemens rotates transducer part numbers over time, and some regional part numbers are no longer sold new. When a specific probe is discontinued you have three realistic options, in order of cost:
- Repair the probe you own. Lens wear, cable breaks, strain-relief damage, and connector faults are all repairable. A professional probe repair typically runs 30–60% of the replacement cost, with a standard turnaround of 5–10 business days.
- Buy a tested refurbished or compatible unit. Secondary-market supply for NX-family probes is healthy because the same models serve the NX3 line.
- Cross to the current-generation equivalent through Siemens — the most expensive path, and sometimes it forces a console software update as well.
Repair or replace: a quick decision rule
Run the numbers before defaulting to a purchase. If your probe images normally but has a damaged cable, cracked housing, or worn lens, repair is almost always the better economic choice at 30–60% of replacement cost. If the array itself has multiple dead elements clustered in the center of the image, or the probe has been dropped hard enough to delaminate the acoustic stack, replacement usually wins — array rebuilds narrow the price gap too much. A 5–10 business day repair window also matters: if you run a single NX2 Elite with one probe per application, ask about a loaner unit so the room keeps scanning while yours is on the bench.
How to order the right probe the first time
Send us three things: the exact model printed on your current transducer, your NX2 Elite serial number, and a photo of the connector face. We confirm compatibility against the system configuration, test the replacement on a matching console, and ship with the element-test report.
